Our civil liberties are not solely in the hands of the ACLU, in fact the American Civil Liberties Union is only one facet of the number of organizations that exist in an effort to protect our civil rights.  Some, like the ACLU and the NRA, have specific agendas so it is important to take information from many different sources and varying viewpoints.  This country was founded on the belief that each of us are born with inalienable Rights by which the government must abide.  At the beginning (circa 1789) we the people had clearly defined Rights.  Over the last 200+ years (and especially since WWII) the government - the system that was created to ensure our Rights - has, inevitably, watered-down our Rights.

Those we so effortlessly elect from our ranks are soon and inevitably corrupted by human nature.  That is why we must not trust them and watch them closely.

Be Wary of Your Government

Many people believe that government is something to believe in and to trust.  In many ways our government can be trusted and can be for the good of everyone.  But always remember that government is made up of people and people can be corrupted.  Luckily we live in a representative form of government that allows us to periodically elect or un-elect our representatives.

Whenever we feel the need for change we have that power.  The power to vote for change.  We must always be vigilant, as people with the power to vote, to make sure our representatives are not abusing the power we have temporarily given them.  Once they have forsaken our trust - just once - they should be voted out and never voted back into public office again no matter what their ambitions are.

To the left I have listed links that keep tabs on our federal representatives.  I wish we had the same for our state representatives.  Until we do keep you eyes and ears open and vote for the person who has our best interest at heart.
