Cost of a Driving Record Goes Up
August 17, 2010: The cost of a driving record obtained from the Clerk of Court has been raised to $16.25 flat rate. Before it was $3 for the first page and $1 for each page thereafter. For the worst driving records this is about a $10 per record increase.
Bill Prohibiting Texting While Driving Dies in Committee
April 30, 2010: The bill that quickly drew life after the allegations that texting while driving was as dangerous as drunk driving finally died in committee. The bill was so flawed it would have technically prohibited GPS devices and Amber Alert roadside devices.
Speeding 30 MPH Over Limit: Sec.
318.19. Infractions requiring a mandatory hearing
Any person cited for the infractions listed in
this section shall not have the provisions of s. 318.14(2), (4), and
(9) available to him or her but must appear before the designated
official at the time and location of the scheduled hearing:
(1) . . . ; or.
(5) Any infraction [for] exceeding the speed limit by 30 m.p.h. or
more.
Driving 30 plus mph over the speed limit cases are taken very
seriously by all courts in the Central Florida area. Take at least
an 8-hour school and get us the certificate prior to your hearing
date.
Loud or Modified Exhaust Tickets §316.293:
This has been on the books a while. The law basically says that We
The People cannot modify our vehicles exhaust system. This statute
seems impossible to prove from the law enforcement perspective. It
is an attempt to quash our imagination and should be fought. Call if
you receive one of these draconian citations.
