Removing the Past
for a Better Tomorrow.
If you have been arrested in Ft Lauderdale or have an arrest record in Broward County, Florida, you must petition the court within the county for a criminal arrest record expungement or sealing. This is the first and most important step to removing that black mark from your past.
I have personally represented people seeking record expungements and sealing in Fort Lauderdale and all of Broward County since 2002. Find out if you qualify to have your arrest record expunged or sealed.
Broward County rarely requires a hearing. An expungement or record sealing is almost always granted provided you have all your ducks in a row when you file the petition.

There are a lot of Benefits for Expunging or Sealing your Record in Broward County
There are numerous benefits when you seal or expunge your arrest record. A criminal arrest record expungement or sealing destroys/removes official government records referring to your arrest from the public record. The public will no longer have access to your arrest information from online government sources, such as the Clerk of Court or Law Enforcement Agencies.
Additionally, private companies that sell public information will purge this information from their databases once they realize it is no longer a public record. This can be facilitated through notification or simply the passing of time.
You will have the legal ability to deny the arrest occurred. There are a few exceptions to this but this ability is one of the most powerful. Backing this up with a certified letter from the Clerk of Court indicating that no record exists is all that you should need.

If a Hearing is Required
As mentioned above, hearing are very rare in Ft. Lauderdale. I cannot remember the last one I had there. But on the off chance one is required, I encourage you to attend if you are within “driving distance” of the courthouse. If you are further, I can appear without you and that is usually okay. Regardless, I will discuss all your options beforehand.
Parking near Broward County Courthouse

Although expungement hearings are rare in Broward County, if necessary, parking is typically an issue. Parking in this part of downtown Ft. Lauderdale is easy but costly. Many one-time payment lots are available and range between $10-15. There are also public parking garages that will charge by the amount of time you are there. One is directly across the street from the Courthouse.
