Removing the Past
for a Better Tomorrow.
A person arrested in Orange County, Florida, must petition the court within the county for a criminal arrest record expungement or sealing. Find out if your Orange County arrest record qualifies to be sealed or expunged.
I have represented people seeking record expungements and sealings in Orlando and all of Orange County since 2002. The tricky part here is making sure your paperwork passes muster by the State Attorney’s Office. When I file a petition I always send a copy to whatever State Attorney’s Office is required to be notified. Orange County’s State Attorney is one of the more diligent offices to make sure my paperwork is perfect. Once we get past that, they usually do not object and that allows the courts to grant these in chambers.

The Benefits of an Orange County Expunged or Sealed Record
Florida law provides you with many benefits once your arrest record has been expunged or sealed. A criminal arrest record expungement or sealing destroys/removes official government records referring to your arrest from the public record. The public will no longer have access to your arrest information from online government sources, such as the Clerk of Court or Law Enforcement Agencies.
Additionally, private companies that sell public information will purge this information from their databases once they realize it is no longer a public record. This can be facilitated through notification or simply the passing of time.
You will have the legal ability to deny the arrest occurred. There are a few exceptions to this but this ability is one of the most powerful. Backing this up with a certified letter from the Clerk of Court indicating that no record exists is all that you should need.
