Florida Criminal Records Sealing and Expungements
Orlando Criminal Records Expungement Attorney - Statewide Service
Florida public records law requires that all criminal records be open to the public unless they have been sealed or expunged. If you have been arrested or had a criminal case filed with the court then you have a public criminal record floating around out there for all to see. There is only one way to remove these criminal records and it requires that you go through the process of sealing or expunging those public records.
Let us help you seal or expunge your criminal records. Eric J Dirga has been an expungement attorney 1997. He can determine if you are eligible to have your Florida criminal record sealed or expunged with a simple phone call. We have been expunging criminal records throughout the State of Florida since 1998 and there is no fee to see if you qualify. Contact us for more information.
Experience Counts
In 1997-8 Eric J. Dirga worked in the appellate division of the Ninth Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office where he was also the expungement attorney for the State Attorney's Office. Mr. Dirga handled all seal and expunge petitions for both Orange County and Osceola County. During his tenure he handled many hundreds of petitions from the perspective of the State of Florida - your chief opponent in getting your criminal records sealed or expunged. He has since represented many hundreds of people to expunge their criminal records. Mr. Dirga knows both sides of the law.
Inexperience Means Delay
Remember that not all attorneys are experienced in this procedure. Filing mistakes and forgotten forms will delay the court from sealing or expunging your criminal record by weeks or even months. Additionally, lack of knowledge may cause another attorney to mistakenly tell you that he/she cannot seal or expunge your record or that you are not eligible. We are very experienced, very knowledgeable, and we will do everything to get your record sealed or expunged if you qualify. Follow these steps:
The Steps to Get Your Expungement Started
| STEP ONE | Determine what type of expungement (expunge record) or sealing (seal record) you really need. If you have never been arrested but have an arrest or arrests appearing on your criminal history background check, then go to the Correct Your Criminal Record page. If you were arrested due to a mistake (for example, arrested on a warrant for a person with the same name as you) then go to Administrative Expungements page. If you are a juvenile (under 18 years of age) please go to the Juvenile Seal and Expunge page first. If you were arrested for any other reason please continue on to Step Two or just call us - we can help you figure this out. |
| STEP TWO | The next thing needed to be done is to run a background check on
yourself through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement [FDLE] to
see if you qualify. But before you do that ask yourself these
questions:
If you answered "no" to each of those questions you're in good shape. If you are not sure, call us. We may be able to help you answer those questions. |
| STEP THREE | Go to the Get Started page and submit the information requested. Be specific and do not guess (leave blank if you don't know). This will complete the information we require to begin the process of sealing or expunging your Florida criminal record. |
| STEP FOUR | Legal Fees and Costs: We will explain all fees and costs to you in person or over the phone if requested. Total out of pocket cost to you runs two payments of $475 but we do not ask for that amount all up front. The payments are spread out over about four months. Our current billing structure to seal or expunge a criminal history can be found at the Expungement Legal Fees page. Please review our fee structure before continuing. If you have a question about a legal fee or cost please contact us or ask before hiring us. |
| STEP FIVE | After you hire us we will be sending you some documents. Return all documents you receive following the instructions, check your email periodically, and relax. We will take care of everything else. |
